Terms of Service

Effective date: 1st January 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Releasedeck’s website, applications, APIs, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is operated by Releasedeck (“Releasedeck,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or other entity, you represent and warrant that you have authority to bind that entity, and “you” refers to that entity.

1) The Service

Releasedeck is a changelog management tool that helps users create, manage, and publish release notes and product updates, including through integrations and APIs.

We may modify, update, or discontinue features of the Service at any time. We will try to provide reasonable notice of material changes, but we are not required to do so.

2) Eligibility

You must be at least the age of majority where you live, or at least 13 years old (16 in some jurisdictions), to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

3) Accounts and Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You agree to:

  • provide accurate information when creating an account;

  • keep your account information up to date; and

  • immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account.

Releasedeck is not responsible for losses caused by unauthorized access to your account due to your failure to secure your credentials.

4) Subscriptions, Billing, and Taxes

4.1 Paid Plans

Some features of the Service require a paid subscription. Pricing and plan details are available on our website or in-product.

4.2 Billing

By subscribing, you authorize Releasedeck (or its payment processor) to charge the payment method on file on a recurring basis (e.g., monthly or annually), until you cancel.

4.3 Trials

We may offer free trials. Trial duration and availability may vary. We may modify or terminate trials at any time.

Unless otherwise stated, after a trial ends, your subscription will convert to a paid plan and you will be charged automatically.

4.4 Refunds

All fees are non-refundable except where required by law, or unless Releasedeck explicitly agrees otherwise in writing.

4.5 Taxes

You are responsible for all applicable taxes, duties, and government assessments related to your subscription, except for taxes based on Releasedeck’s net income.

5) Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the Service. You may not, and may not allow others to:

  • violate any applicable law or regulation;

  • infringe intellectual property or privacy rights;

  • upload or transmit malicious code, malware, or harmful content;

  • interfere with or disrupt the Service or systems;

  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or networks;

  • scrape, harvest, or collect information from the Service without permission;

  • reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except as allowed by law;

  • use the Service to send spam or unsolicited messages;

  • use the Service to host or distribute unlawful, deceptive, defamatory, or abusive content;

  • use the Service in a way that could reasonably harm Releasedeck’s infrastructure, security, or reputation.

We may monitor usage to maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce these Terms.

6) Your Content

6.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of content you submit to the Service, including changelog posts, release notes, attachments, templates, and other materials (“Customer Content”).

6.2 License to Operate the Service

You grant Releasedeck a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify, process, transmit, and display Customer Content solely to:

  • provide and maintain the Service,

  • improve and develop the Service,

  • prevent or address technical or security issues, and

  • comply with law or enforce these Terms.

6.3 Responsibility for Customer Content

You are solely responsible for Customer Content and represent and warrant that:

  • you have all necessary rights to submit it;

  • it does not violate laws or third-party rights; and

  • it does not contain sensitive personal information unless you have a legal basis to process and share it.

6.4 Public Content

If you publish changelog pages publicly (e.g., a public changelog), you understand that the content may be accessible to anyone and indexed by search engines.

7) Third-Party Services and Integrations

The Service may integrate with third-party services (e.g., Git providers, issue trackers, messaging tools). These third-party services are not controlled by Releasedeck and may have separate terms and privacy policies.

Releasedeck is not responsible for third-party services, including their availability, security, or how they handle data.

8) API Usage

If Releasedeck provides APIs, you agree to:

  • comply with our documentation and any rate limits;

  • not use APIs to circumvent restrictions or misuse the Service; and

  • keep API keys secure.

We may suspend or revoke API access at any time to protect the Service.

9) Intellectual Property

9.1 Releasedeck Property

Releasedeck owns all rights, title, and interest in the Service, including software, code, design, branding, trademarks, and documentation, except for Customer Content.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service except as expressly allowed by these Terms.

9.2 Feedback

If you provide suggestions, ideas, or feedback, you grant Releasedeck a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use it for any purpose without compensation or attribution.

10) Confidentiality

Confidential Information” means non-public information disclosed by one party to the other, including product plans, technical information, and business information.

Both parties agree to:

  • use Confidential Information only to fulfill obligations under these Terms; and

  • protect it using reasonable care.

Confidential Information does not include information that is publicly available through no fault of the receiving party.

11) Suspension and Termination

11.1 Suspension

We may suspend or restrict access to the Service immediately if we determine that:

  • you violate these Terms,

  • your use poses a security risk,

  • your use could harm Releasedeck or others, or

  • we are required to do so by law.

11.2 Termination by You

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated.

11.3 Termination by Releasedeck

We may terminate your account or subscription with notice, or immediately if you materially breach these Terms.

11.4 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • your right to access the Service ends;

  • we may delete Customer Content after a reasonable period, unless legally required to retain it; and

  • any unpaid fees become immediately due.

12) Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RELEASEDECK DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

Releasedeck does not guarantee that the Service will meet your requirements or that content will be accurate, complete, or reliable.

13) Limitation of Liability (Company-Protective)

  • RELEASEDECK’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU TO RELEASEDECK FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 3 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

14) Indemnification (Strong Protection)

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Releasedeck, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from or related to:

  • your use of the Service;

  • your infringement or alleged infringement of third-party rights.

Releasedeck may assume control of the defense of any matter subject to indemnification, and you agree to cooperate.

15) Compliance and Export Controls

You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to trade sanctions and are not prohibited from receiving the Service under applicable export control or sanctions laws.

You agree to comply with all applicable laws relating to use of the Service.
